Understanding the Life of the Prophet (p) Principles and Guidelines

In an era of severe Islamophobia and vile attacks on the Prophet (p), it has become ever so important for Muslims to become acquainted with his (p) life and teachings. However, in order to understand and navigate through his (p) teachings accurately, one must abide by certain rules and guidelines. In this 2-day presentation, we hope to introduce participants to the genre of Fiqh al-Sirah, as we cover a number of introductory principles that can assist us in deriving meaningful lessons from his (p) life for our day and age. This will be followed by four brief case studies analyzing certain events from his (p) life.

Some of the topics covered include:

– Have we been negligent towards the Messenger (p)?

– What are the different dimensions of our relationship with Prophet Muhammad (p)?

– Who was Muhammad b. ‘Abdillah? Did he play any other role in society other than that of a Messenger & a Prophet?

– What can we actually derive from his (p) words, actions and silence?

– What are the different types of actions the Prophet (p) engaged in and what do they mean for us?

– Four different case studies from different aspects of his (p) life.
