The Spirit of God

Who is Jesus, the son of Mary? While different religions hold different views regarding this historical figure, Islam speaks of a lofty status for him. He is referred to in the Quran as a “spirit from God”, “Messiah” and a “word from God sent to Mary”. What do these terms truly mean and Why weren’t other prophets given such titles?

In this presentation, we strive to have a deeper understanding of the status of Jesus in the Quran and the Islamic faith by delving into the following questions:

1- What does it mean to call Prophet Isa (as) “The Spirit of God” or “The Word of Allah”?

2- Why does the Quran attack the concept of Prophet Isa (as) being the son of God?

3- How is belief in Prophet Isa (as) as a savior different from believing in the Ahlul-Bayt’s intercession?

4- The power of creation in the hands of Isa (as).

5- Who are the Hawariyyun? Do they correspond to the 12 disciples mentioned in history?

6- Will he return at the end of times?

7- Similarities between Prophet Isa (as) and the 12 Imams.
