One of the most significant bodies of work within the vast ocean of Islamic disciplines is the hadith literature. Muslims have always relied heavily on hadith to acquire religious knowledge pertaining to different aspects of their faith, be it theology, jurisprudence, or ethics. In this extensive course, students will be introduced to the development of hadith sciences within a Shia Imami context and as well as some of the main sub-branches of this discipline, namely ‘Ilm al-Rijal, ‘Ilm al-Dirayah and Fiqh al-Hadith. The course also includes numerous case studies to help students better understand how different theoretical concepts are applied.
