Shaytan in the Quran

Shaytan is the oldest and most seasoned enemy of mankind, his life extending over thousands of years. One can argue he has much experience in misguiding people. He has vowed to come after all of us, and the Quran has made it clear to us he is our enemy and has warned us of his deceptions. If we are to take him as our enemy, we have no choice but to become familiar with him and his tactics, and what better place to start from than the Quran itself? Join us in this online presentation by instructor Shaykh Amin Rastani as we explore the origins, deceptions, and weaknesses of Shaytan as explained and alluded to by the Holy Quran!

Some of the questions discussed:

1. The Quran has related the story of Shaytan and Adam many times; what are some of the common themes in these accounts and what can we take away from them?

2. What was the main problem with Shaytan (so that we are careful not to repeat it)?

3. If Shaytan was of the jinn, what was he doing in the midst of the angels, and more importantly, is it even possible for jinn to dwell among the angels who are immaterial beings?

4. What is the divine wisdom behind the creation of Shaytan if all he does is misguide mankind?

5. According to the Quran, what tools and tactics does Shaytan use to get mankind to disobey God?

6. Does the influence of Shaytan go against mankind’s free will?

7. How strong is Shaytan, and if he isn’t very strong, then why all the attention he is given in the Quran?

8. What are some of the ways we can counter Shaytan and how can we be careful he doesn’t get the best of us?
