Course Synopsis:
Join us for a workshop that explores Quranic paradigms of feminine spirituality. This workshop will examine various case studies and angles to provide a comprehensive understanding of Quranic depictions of feminine spirituality and connection with God.
The workshop will delve into the significance of several female figures in the Quran and analyze discussions in tafsir literature throughout history and comparing them to their depictions in other traditions (particularly Jewish and Christian narratives) We will look into discussions of Sayyidah Maryam, her mother, Sayyidah Asiyah, and the mother of Prophet Musa (a) as well as discuss the implications of these stories on feminine spirituality and leadership. Furthermore, the workshop will study case studies in the Quran that illustrate God’s emotional awareness and care for the well-being of women. We will examine how the Qur’an is immersed into this worldview, and illustrate how God eternalizes various secret prayers of women in various prophetic stories while teaching us various social and ethical principles in the process.
